Trip Preparations

I read on Stephen's cousins blog about an idea that she used with her boys on their long car trip.  It was a car that moved along a road to show progress.  It is suppose to combat the "when are we going to get there" syndrome.  When Stephen saw it he really thought we needed it for our trip.  I didn't have much energy about making it at first, but then when I got going it got a little out of control with all of the preparations.

I then made a jar with choices of activities that could happen in the car.

Then I made bins of books and coloring books that neatly fit between the older kids carseats in the back.
I also made some car games that I found online and laminated them.
Here were all the preparations including the bag in the back full of treats to use as bribes for good behavior.

I am happy to say that the kids did awesome.  I was totally expecting the worst and honestly can say that everyone was an awesome traveler.  We didn't even need half of the things that I had planned.  It was so good to know that we made it one piece and happy after the long car drives.
