A Father Indeed

Our Bishop (minister) asked every family in our ward (congregation) to watch this video. You will not regret watching it. It is such an inspiring tale of a Father.

Camping Project: Day 2

As our phase one (basically an opening event to get interest- we did the tent set up- and then a find a way to collect questions of what we want to know about- we did a web) of the project we needed to find out what we know about camping. Here is our web of what we know. Most of the background knowledge Benjamin had is from an episode of the cartoon "Olivia" about when she goes camping. Then we decided what questions we want answered. The pictures below show the web and the four questions that we would like to answer.

Camping Project

I decided that Benjamin and I are in need of something to do. I figured a project would be the perfect preschool plan for the summer. (For more information about the "project approach" see this website. Basically it is an in depth study of a topic.) We can develop it for much of the summer while we are home and then have a culminating event of a real camping trip at the end of the summer. Here are some pictures of the first events.

Day one of the project started by setting up the tent in the living room. We have never used either of the tents that we were given by Nana and Papa. I tried to put up the "big tent" in the living room, and I knew it wouldn't even fit when the floor of the tent spread out more than the open space of the carpet. I lugged that back to the garage and got the "small tent" out. Benjamin and I had a fun time figuring out how to put it together. I assumed the "small tent" was really just a two person tent. Boy was I wrong. It takes up the entire living room right now. We are having fun playing in it already. We also made our very own campfire.

Laughing

It is so interesting because really the only thing that makes Emma laugh out loud is children. She is constantly laughing at Benjamin's crazy antics. Yesterday was no exception as Benjamin was jumping around on her bed. She laughed and laughed and laughed. I love her sweet little laugh!

Good Dream Spray

Emma has been sleeping much better lately even through the night on several occasions. I finally felt like we were going to start getting some rest again. But the past three weeks have been rough for Benjamin and bad dreams. It was beginning to be an almost nightly thing where somewhere in the wee hours of the morning one could hear a huge thump followed by a succession of smaller thumps of little feet running down the hall. The next was felt not heard as a not so little any more boy would leap onto the bed. We have been dealing with this a lot. I decided the other day that it was time to figure out a solution. So I talked up the "Good Dream Spray." I talked about the magical abilities to cure all bad dreams. I told Benjamin that we needed to get a squirt bottle for the magic spray to go into. I kept forgetting about the squirt bottle, and tonight he desperately needed it. So I ran and got the ironing squirt bottle and emptied it out and put a single red ribbon coming out the top. I told him that is how he would know the "Good Dream Spray." Well he went to town spraying that thing all over the room. He sprayed and sprayed and sprayed and sprayed! He loved being able to spray as much as he wanted. There are obviously no limitations on the amount of "Good Dream Spray" that can be used. He even went in my room and sprayed it down for me. I am hoping that we all get some good sleep tonight!
