Strawberry Picking

We headed out this morning to go strawberry picking at our favorite strawberry farm. We had the coldest wettest spring on record and so the berries aren't their usually size or sweetness but are extra juicy from all that rain. This was the first year that we picked some ourselves, and we had a great time. Benjamin loved finding the biggest berries, and Emma tried to pick everything in sight including the very green strawberries. She was covered in juice by the end because she was a vigorous squeezer. There aren't any pictures of Jacob as Stephen was baby holder and photographer, but he was there for our first family strawberry picking event. We picked five pounds of berries and then brought home a flat. We now have 28 cups of strawberries in the freezer just waiting to be made into jam!

4th of July

We had a fabulous fourth of July. It was a just a day at home, but we managed to make it extraordinary with lots of fun things. Things that we did that day were:
make a 4th of July treat of festive cupcakes,

stand up,
take pictures of one another (Benjamin took these),

swim,

eat the most delicious red and orange popsicles before dinner,

devour a hotdog dinner,
throw snaps and explode poppers,
enjoy eating s'mores and lighting sparklers with our neighbors Shaun, Jen and Grace
have our own firework show (which consisted of three fireworks)
shake in terror at the sight of the fireworks (Jacob),
watch the police confiscate fireworks from our unwanted neighbors and were awake until well after 1am by all the neighbors fireworks (mom and dad).
Overall an awesome day!
