Our Garden

We got some of our garden plantings in.  This year Stephen built a second box for us to enjoy our produce.  We are waiting a few weeks to do tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and squash because that is the recommendation for our area so those are the empty holes.  It will be fun to eat our homegrown veg again this summer.  We can hardly wait!

Visitors!

Nana and Papa brought Aaron and Hannah up for a few days during their Spring Break. Andrew, Kelly, and Logan came up for the first night. Stephen took the adults to our favorite restaurant while I was home with six kids (I volunteered), and they were able to get in to the bistro area for Happy Hour. Andrew said that the food "lived up to the hype" because we had talked about taking everyone there for so long and described how amazing the food is.  Wednesday was the first day with the kids together.  Benjamin went to school while Nana, Papa, Andrew and Kelly headed to a store to explore.  Then I volunteered in Benjamin's classroom and brought him home and the kids played all afternoon together.  On Thursday, we went to local wildlife park for the first time. We had a great time seeing all the animals. The kids had fun afterwords buying geodes and breaking them open. Then on Friday, the day before for they left, we explored the Sound at a state park, gathered shells, and had yummy fish and chips from fabulous restaurant that we ate on the pier.  We had a great visit and wish that it could have been longer.

Jacob loved seeing the animals too

Except when the buffalo were a bit too close and then he covered his eyes!

After the tram ride we got out to explore and see the other animals
This was a great-horned owl that we got to see up close and personal

Easter 2012

Easter morning was wonderful.  Stephen didn't have any meetings and was able to be home and help get the kids ready for church.  It was the best Easter gift!  The kids came down to find their baskets and the eggs hidden by the bunny.  Benjamin got a moose pillow pet, Emma got a Rapunzel doll, and Jacob got new tools for his Aquadoodle.  But really once Jacob found out the eggs were filled with jellybeans that was all that he was interested in.

We quickly got dressed for church and snapped a few pictures of all the new Easter clothes.

We came home, had naps and a wonderful yet traditional dinner together.  We were a little slow on the Easter preparations and by Easter night we still hadn't dyed eggs.  Stephen and I were both so tired so we put Jacob to bed and let the other two kids watercolor a few eggs because getting out the dye just was too much work (so lame but there is always next year.)
