I have read about several people who do project 365 where they take a picture every day for an entire year. I know that I could never do that, but I saw on other blogs where they take 12 pictures on the 12th day of the month. I decided that I want to try it out this year. The purpose is to remember the little parts of your day rather than just big events. Here is January.
I needed to do something fun with Emma and Benjamin since I spend so much time with Jacob. In the morning, I told Benjamin that it was 1-11-11. I told him in other words it's one day. So we decided to have a one day party! We decorated with ones, had things that look like ones for dinner (carrots, french fries, and steak cut in strips) and had one cookies for dessert. We played one BINGO and did a one activity where we drew one of different things in a jar. It was a fun one day party!
Benjamin woke up to find the kitchen (his request since we usually decorate the dining room) all decorated for his big day. He was so happy with the pirate theme that I surprised him with. Then Dad came home for a special father/son lunch to his favorite restaurant- Japanese of course. In the afternoon, we made the cake (yellow to represent the golden treasure- Benjamin's idea, which I thought was very clever) and frosted it like our pirate treasure map plates. He was also very pleased to learn that this was his golden birthday and the pirate theme of gold fit in perfectly. Then we had a party during dinner with macaroni and cheese (also gold) or clam pasta as choices. We sang to him and then ate our golden cake. Lastly, Benjamin opened presents. While we were gone I had the presents ship to our friend's house. One didn't arrive and wasn't suppose to arrive until tomorrow. So I had wrapped a picture of it. Well Grandma Joy called me that it arrived, and she ran it down to us. I decided that I could use this to my advantage and hid the real package and made a treasure map so he could find it. When he opened the present with the picture of it, Stephen told him about the map that he found when he got home from work. It was the hit of the night. Happy 6th Birthday Benjamin! We love you!
